Rotary had previously committed to a $20,000 donation over twp years but the Club’s  Dinner Auction in October featured a new ‘Fund a Need’ or ‘Special Pledge Appeal’ auction, carried out by auctioneer Pat O’Connor, that resulted in a surprising turn of events.

The evening was billed as the Marvelous Rotary Indulgence (MRI) and the event broke all previous auction fundraising records with $17,500 raised.

On Wednesday evening at the Club’s Christmas gathering, a cheque for the funds was presented to the Foundation’s Executive Director, Tracy Murray, and Rotary President, Sylvia Sheard, pointed out that the funds are in addition to the Club’s two-year pledge.

“We all realize and appreciate how important local health care is,” said Sheard, “and that’s why Rotary continues to support our local hospital with its equipment needs and also our  much-needed new MRI machine to be located in Owen Sound.”
