Golf ‘fore’ youth – a virtual fundraising tournament

There have been a tremendous amount of new and unexpected challenges faced by all of us throughout the last four months as a result of COVID-19.

Cherie Leslie, Senior Engagement Advisor at the NWMO, presents a cheque to Emma Martin, Community                                                               Relations Director at WES for Youth Online.

The challenges for youth in our communities have especially been equally difficult and stressful. Among those challenges are specific losses sustained for youth in terms of social networks, which provide support, school connections which also provide social and emotional support, not to mention the loss of extra curricular activities, job opportunities, and tremendous uncertainty about the future.

As such, there is an increasing demand for alternative support systems such as ‘WES for Youth’ online’s free counselling service, which can help to alleviate some of the stress and uncertainty created during an already challenging time in young people’s lives.

Due to the uncertainty of COVID-19, we have decided to postpone what would have been our Third Annual WES for Youth Golf Classic held at Ainsdale Golf Course in Kincardine ON, until next year. With that being said, we are going to move forward with what we are calling “The Virtual Golf Fore Youth Tournament, presented by Nuclear Waste Management Organization,” over the September long weekend.

From September 4-7, 2020 golfers from across Ontario are invited to support youth mental health by submitting their scorecard virtually from any golf course post play. With the intention to make this game as inclusive and “hands-free” as possible.

The rules are simple:

To register, call and book a tee-time at any participating golf course if you wish or choose to play at any alternative golf course of your choice:

Ainsdale Golf Course (Kincardine),
Saugeen Golf Club (Saugeen Shores),
Walkerton Golf and Curling Club (Walkerton)
Black Horse Golf & Country Club (Kincardine)

  1. Pay your green fee on-site and make a $16 donation to WES for Youth Online via the “Donate to Play” button.
  2. Once you have played your game, email your scorecard to office@wesforyouthonline.ca for a chance to WIN 1 of 8 prizes, with a grand cash prize of $1,000! You must be 18 of age to be entered into a prize draw.

Winners will be announced on Tuesday, September 8th, 2020!
