Port Elgin (Saugeen Shores) has again been selected as the first leg of the annual Grey-

Bruce Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) for Special Olympics. The run will kick off Wednesday morning, June 10th (2026).
Gathering at Tim Horton’s on Gustavus Street for a meet ‘n’ greet and opening ceremony at 7:15 a.m., participants will then head off with family, friends and supporters for the 1100metre run/walk with the Torch of Hope, to the parking lot adjacent to McDonald’s restaurant.
From there, the Special Olympians will board a bus and, along with Law Enforcement officers, will head out to Kincardine for the second leg of the run and then on to the surrounding communities of Hanover, Durham and, finally ending in Owen Sound where a BBQ will be held.

The Ontario Law Enforcement Torch Run is the largest public awareness vehicle and grass-roots fundraiser for Special Olympics and, since its inception in 1987, has raised more than $80 million in Canada.
