Trinity Theatre and Paisley Artscape Society are excited to announce the return of Paisley’s Harvest of the Arts Festival, taking place on September 27–28, 2024. The weekend will celebrate both art and heritage, featuring a variety of events, including the Paisley ARTifacts Exhibit, the Festival of Lost Arts, P150: The Community Play, and the Fill Your Bowls “Soup Off” fundraiser.
The lively weekend is sure to be full of laughs and reconnecting to the heart of the rural community. The weekend events include the opening of the Paisley ARTifacts exhibit at the Paisley Mill, the Festival of the Lost Arts at the Treasure Chest Museum and P150: The Community Play at the Town Hall (Paisley Legion) and finally, the Fill Your Bowls “Soup off” at the Community Centre.
“We can’t wait for people to take in the variety of events we have planned celebrating Paisley’s heritage and the arts!” says Paisley Artscape Society President Ken Cormack.
“We really tried to capture the spirit of Paisley with P150: The Community Play. From the influence of the rivers on everyone from the enterprising individuals that shaped the community to the artists that have brought an eclectic vibe that makes Paisley special. It’s going to be a lot of fun!” added Trinity Theatre Director Alan Richardson.
Kicking the weekend off is the Opening Reception for the Paisley ARTifacts Pop-up Art Gallery on Friday, September 27th from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the Paisley Mill. The exhibit showcases the work of young, emerging, and established artists, all inspired by podcast interviews with Paisley seniors who share captivating stories about artifacts from the Treasure Chest Museum. The exhibit is also open Saturday, September 28th, October 5th and October 12th from 12:00 – 4:00 p.m. with a Silent Auction to conclude the show on October 19th.
Also on Saturday, September 28th, the Treasure Chest Museum will host the Festival of Lost Arts from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. where skilled artisans will showcase quilting, weaving, rope making and more.
Then, at 7:00 p.m., community members will present P150: The Community Play. The interactive play will feature stories, music, heritage scenes, humour and more to share the Paisley community spirit.
Finally, on Sunday, September 29th, everyone is invited to the Community Centre from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. to try a variety of delicious soups as part of the “Fill Your Bowls” fundraiser to support the food bank and community art projects. Bowls can be purchased for $25 from Della Bella Boutique in Paisley and includes entrance. All other events are by minimum $10 donation.
