Home Hardware in Southampton changes hands

After 46 years, Bruce and Ruth Martin of Martin’s Home Hardware on High Street in Southampton have entered a well-deserved retired.

The Martins moved to Southampton in 1976 from St. Jacobs-Elmira area to open their business and the last day for the couple was Tuesday, July 5th.

Jeff and Sarah Gauthier, who recently took over from his parents as owners of Port Elgin Home Hardware and are Directors of the company, have also purchased the Southampton business.  According to Jeff Gauthier there will be no change in staff but the name will become Southampton Home Hardware in the near future.

As for future plans, the Martins say they have none as yet but travel may be in their future at some point.
