Howick Mutual Insurance Company has made a $3,000 donation to Huron Shores Hospice to help with the hospice’s COVID-19 response and lost revenue from the cancellation of their Hike for Hospice.
Shawn Cottrill, Finance Manager and Corporate Treasurer at Howick Mutual Insurance Company, said “We are pleased to support Huron Shores Hospice and their mission to provide quality end-of-life care and grief recovery support to their community. This is a valuable service and we are proud to contribute to help make up some of the lost revenue they experienced when having to cancel key fundraisers during this uncertain time.”
Huron Shores Hospice is a charitable not-for-profit, volunteer-led, community-funded residential hospice, providing quality end-of-life care, at no cost, to residents of Saugeen Shores, Kincardine, Huron-Kinloss and surrounding areas. Plans are currently underway to add a second bed to better serve the residents of south Bruce this year.
“We are so grateful to Howick Mutual Insurance Company for their support and generosity at a time when we are having to cancel our main fundraisers. It gives all our volunteers a boost to know that companies care and support the work we are doing to provide quality end-of-life care and grief recovery to our community. Now more than ever, the hospice approach is needed to ensure that the most vulnerable are cared for and their concerns, fears and hopes are heard,” said Carol Rencheck, Co-Chair of the Huron Shores Hospice Board of Directors.
