Kyleigh Buckton, who had holes in heart at birth and had to undergo several operations, continues to want to give back to the community that helped her family through a difficult time at her birth.
Kyleigh, who just turned 10, has developed a passion for dogs so, instead of having a birthday party, she decided to hold a FUNdraising doggie stand on Saturday, May 16th.
At the doggie stand at Wellington and River Streets in Port Elgin there were treats, tennis balls (every dog’s favourite for fetch), cupcakes for humans and pup cakes for furry friends, all for sale for a special cause.
The funds go to ‘Save Me’ Dog Rescue’s forever fosters program. Some dogs are unable to be adopted for a variety of reasons such as medical conditions and the foster program ensures they have a home. That being said, supplies are needed and monies raised go toward help pay for things such as their food, vet visits and medications.
Kyleigh raised $280 selling bracelets … and local photographer Jennifer O’Reilly also donated one pet portrait to be raffled off in addition to a raffle for a basket of goodies.
At only 10 years of age, Kyleigh raised a total of $2,173.
