Performing Arts of Saugeen Shores (PASS) is looking to rebuild a strong and vibrant community theatre and so is hosting a drop-in information night on Thursday, May 9 at the Port Elgin Library from 7-8:30PM.
Members of PASS will be on hand to answer questions and provide background of where PASS has come from and the type of events and performances they have done over the years. Also, where they hope to head in the future.
In Saugeen Shores, there is currently a thriving drama class at Saugeen District Secondary School that puts on a play or musical every other year, as well as professional theatre in the form of Bruce County Playhouse that hosts a number of different plays each summer; but there is still room for community theatre too.
Patty Underwood, a current member of PASS says, “This is a great opportunity to try something new, meet people and learn new, or hone, current skills.”
Some of the behind-the-scenes jobs in community theatre include: make-up, lighting, props, stage manager, production designers, actors, singers, wardrobe, set builders, sound technician, director, assistant manager, promotions, and so much more.
The information night on May 9 will give you a chance to find out how you too can get stage struck!
Those interested but unable to attend on May 9 may call 519-353-8605 for more information.
