Local Legions to commemorate Remembrance Day

Grey Bruce Public Health has issued a recent guideline for gathering limits that included outdoor organized public events.

Review provincial gathering limits dates before planning any events or gatherings.

  • Outdoor social gatherings are permitted up to 100 people with limited exceptions.
  • There are no gathering limits for outdoor organized public events. Limiting pedestrian traffic to meet outdoor social gathering limits is not required for organized events like seasonal parades or Remembrance Day ceremonies.

According to local Royal Canadian Legion branches, Remembrance Day this year will be a semblance of ‘normal’.

Southampton Legion will return to a parade and will gather in front of the local branch between 10:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.  In addition, they will be offering their famous ham and scalloped potato lunch (by donation) at the Legion following the 11:00 a.m. ceremony at the Southampton Cenotaph.  The Legion requires proof of vaccination and mask wearing when not seated.

Port Elgin Legion Branch will also be hosting a Remembrance Day with details below.
