In a recent media release, Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP Bill Walker said that he is pleased Ontario has received approval from the federal government to move forward with funding for several long-awaited local road and bridge infrastructure projects.
“I’m excited to finally receive federal government approval on the projects Ontario nominated last July,” said Walker. “The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic has brought instability and uncertainty, but important investments in infrastructure like the projects being announced today will kickstart our local economy, attracting jobs to get people back to work.”
This announcement includes more than $2.1 million of provincial funding towards the reconstruction and rehabilitation of four road and bridge projects in Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound. These projects are among the 144 projects nominated to the federal government for funding approval via the Rural and Northern stream of the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program or ICIP last summer.
The Ontario government is committed to working in collaboration with its federal counterparts and municipal partners to secure more funding approvals for the over 350 projects nominated to the federal government via ICIP.
“It is so important to our rural communities that we work together between all levels of 
government to see investments in local infrastructure projects. Today is another example of that,” said Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MP Alex Ruff. “I am excited to see these projects approved, they are crucial to the long term growth and success of our local communities and economy. I look forward to seeing the jobs created, and shovels in the ground as these projects get underway.”

West Grey – replacement of Lantz Bridge (Bridge 28) on Concession 2WGR. Provincial funding: $465,620.10. Total eligible cost: $1,397,000.
Grey County – Grey Roads 3 and 4 roundabout construction. Provincial funding: $606,606. Total eligible cost: $1,820,000.
Arran Elderslie – Replacement of Soper’s Bridge, Structure A25 on Sideroad 20. Provincial funding: $267,639.90. Total eligible cost: $803,000.
Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation – Phase 2: Roads and Culvert Flood Damage repair/reconstruction. Provincial funding: $768,320.28. Total eligible cost: $4,191,600.
