Meridian Credit Union in Port Elgin became a Home Run Hitter when it donated $10,000 to the Lamont Sports Park ‘Illuminating Dreams’ fundraising campaign for Phase 2.
The donation came from Meridian’s Good Neighbour Program which is its local non-profit sponsorship program. Through the program, Meridian forges partnerships with local charities, not-for-profits, and public organizations.
The community sponsorship decisions are made by local branch teams to address the unique needs of each community.
“On behalf of Meridian we are proud to support the Lamont Sports Park through our Good Neighbour Program. We are just so happy to be a small part of the fundraising efforts that everyone in Saugeen Shores and surrounding area has contributed to. Thanks to all of the volunteers and our community we will have an outstanding sports park in our area that will attract all ages near and far to Saugeen Shores,” said Erin Aldridge, Branch Manager, Meridian
“We are thrilled to be part of this project,” said District Vice-President, Nigel Samaroo. “It fits in very well with our Good Neighbour Program.”

“On behalf of the Lamont Sports Park Fundraising team, I’d like to reiterate how thrilled we are to have Meridian on-board as a Home Run donor and to have their banner on display on one of the diamonds,” said Fundraising Co-chair Rob Stanley. F ollowing the presentation, Stanley took the group on a tour of the Park.
For each $10,000 donation Home Run status, a large banner will be placed in the park for a five-year period.
