Just days after Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation’s (SMHF) widely successful Radiothon a local business has stepped up to help give an additional boost to the “Bring Tom to Town” CT scanner fundraising campaign.
Local business owners Scott and Tanya Wark are no strangers to supporting local hospital initiatives in the community and once again provided their generous support by donating $20,000 to the CT scanner campaign.
“I heard about the Bring Tom to Town campaign and the Radiothon on 97.9 The Bruce and wanted to do something. Tanya and I talked about it and we easily agreed that we could help. We both feel that having this piece of equipment in the Southampton hospital not only has the potential to save lives but it also frees up nursing staff and ambulances from having to do transfers to Owen Sound and back. We are 3rd generation in a family business that is entering its 65th year operating in the Saugeen Shores area and doing business in Grey and Bruce Counties, so we are just happy to help and give back to our local community,” said Scott Wark.
“We are so tremendously grateful for the Warks’ support and their generous gift to help us reach the $3 million goal to complete this vital CT project not only for Saugeen Shores but to benefit all of Bruce County,” said SMHF Vice Chair Jenn Tuer.
The $3 million CT campaign fundraising launched in late October and now sits at just over $1 million. Executive Director Tracy Murray is hopeful that by the end of January the campaign will have seen another increase in fundraising once the annual ‘Light the Way’ holiday campaign is over.
“There are many ways people or businesses can help us reach the $3 million goal for this project, says Murray. “Mail in your ‘Light the Way’ donation slip that you received in your mail, or call our office, buy some CT scanner lottery tickets, businesses can come on board for event sponsorships, or anyone can easily start their own fundraiser by using our fundraising platform online, with a few simple clicks you get a custom fundraising page and link to share with friends and family.
