In a moving service on May 29th, Darlyne (Dar) Rath was officially received and installed as Pastor of Faith Lutheran Church in Port Elgin.
Although Pastor Dar has been at Faith Lutheran Church for only three months, coming from Williamsford St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, she has a long history with Faith Lutheran, having served many times as interim pastor.
The Rev. John Polacok, Dean of the Georgian Bay Ministry Area and Pastor of St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Hanover, was the Installing Minister and delivered the Homily. “With Dar’s wealth of experience, she is the ideal shepherd to lead this congregation into the future.”
The Faith Singers choir also performed the anthem ‘I Will Sing Unto the Lord’ (by Jamie Killion & Joseph M. Martin) with Pastor Dar and Rev. John Polacok joining in.
Also a retired nurse, Pastor Rath is also a Spiritual Care Provider (Chaplain) at the Southampton and Wiarton Hospitals and was instrumental in the surgical cap making movement by volunteers for health care professionals during COVID-19.
