Bruce County’s Long Term Care Team at Gateway Haven congratulates all new Personal Support Worker (PSW) graduates of the YMCA of Owen Sound Grey Bruce program. This group of new graduates included Gateway Haven Resident Support Assistants (RSA) who upgraded their education and students who completed their required clinical placement hours at Gateway Haven.

Katie Cuillerier (Director of Nursing), Madison McMaster, Karen Smith, Rebecca Schick-MacDonald, Hayley Austin, Julia Boudreau, Callie Lynn Jewell (IPAC and Staff Development Role)

Gateway Haven’s Director of Nursing Katie Cuillerier and IPAC and Staff Development Manager Callie Lynn Jewell had the pleasure of attending the graduation ceremony in Owen Sound, in support of their Gateway Haven colleagues.

The PSW Program is a Skills Development Fund project, with collaboration between YMCA of Owen Sound Grey Bruce, Georgian College, and Long-Term Care Home, Retirement Home, and Home Care Provider employers across Grey and Bruce Counties. The YMCA oversees program delivery, Georgian College provides training, the Adult Learning Centre assists, and Grey and Bruce Counties and employers guide the program.

Bruce County Long Term Care homes in Walkerton and Wiarton proudly host students for clinical placement hours, where they are a valued part of the Bruce County care team. Recent graduates have shared that their experience at the homes was very positive and welcoming, offering a team mentality, and encouraging opportunities to further their careers. A high number of recent graduates have been hired permanently as PSWs at Gateway Haven.
