NII’s Jessica Linthorne named to top ten economic development professionals in Ontario

The past year has been a test of any economic development professional, and the Nuclear Innovation Institute (NII) is pleased to share that Jessica Linthorne, Director of the Clean Energy Frontier program, has been recognized by the Economic Developers Council of Ontario (EDCO) for overall excellence and achievements in her field.

Named one of EDCO’s Top Ten Members for 2021, Linthorne was chosen by a panel of past EDCO presidents who judged candidates from across the province under the themes of leadership, dedication, innovation and results.

In a release from EDCO, the organization’s CEO Heather Lalonde stated: “Now, more than ever, it is important to highlight the significant role economic development plays in community resiliency. Economic Developers have gone above and beyond for their communities over the past 18 months and it is important to recognize those who have demonstrated excellence in their profession.”

Linthorne’s work with the Town of Saugeen Shores included just that—innovative initiatives focused on supporting the municipality throughout the pandemic while also managing the day-to-day tasks of creating opportunities for local employers and their workforces.

Having joined NII this summer, Linthorne now leads the Clean Energy Frontier program, an advocacy, awareness-raising and economic development initiative led by Bruce Power and Bruce County. It focuses on promoting the valuable contribution that Bruce, Grey and Huron counties bring to Ontario and Canada in the drive towards a net-zero future, while building on the region’s advantages in clean energy.

“It is humbling to be recognized among this prestigious group. As a passionate economic development professional, I see the opportunity we have to support the clean energy sector and to leverage our assets for economic and environmental betterment,” said  Linthorne.

“With more than 60 clean energy suppliers now in the tri-county region, we must care for what we have and support their businesses to ensure sustainable jobs in our communities,” she added.
