Power Workers Union donation rescues alligator

In May, an alligator was spotted in the Port Elgin town pond adjacent to the Fish Hatchery operated by the Lake Huron Fishing Club (LHFC).

Was it real? No … but supposedly, to fish-eating birds, it appeared to be and was used as a deterrent.

The pond is annually filled with hatchlings that grow so that children can experience fishing along with catch-and-release,” says Lake Huron Fishing Club Treasurer Dave Myette.

Unfortunately, some nefarious people went to great lengths to remove the head of the decoy alligator.

Recently however, thanks to a generous donation from the Power Workers Union (PWU) the alligator has a new head and is once again busy fending off fish-eating birds.

Hopefully, the same nefarious people are long gone.
