Following a year of challenge, perseverance and progress in the face of the global pandemic, Bruce Power has released its 2020 Annual Report titled Powering Ontario through COVID-19.
“This was an unprecedented year, and I’m extremely proud of our employees, skilled tradespeople and supply chain partners who performed their essential duties to ensure we continued to provide clean, reliable, low-cost power to the province and medical isotopes around the world,” said Mike Rencheck, President and CEO of Bruce Power. “Through a collective effort we were able to keep our Life-Extension Program including the Unit 6 Major Component Replacement project on track, while broadly supporting our local communities and province during the worst global public-health crisis of our generation.”
The report outlines our Life-Extension Program including key milestones in the company’s Unit 6 MCR Project, its role in Canada’s clean energy future, and how the industry has positioned Canada as a global powerhouse in life-saving medical isotope production. The Bruce Power Life-Extension Program is ranked as the second largest infrastructure project in Canada by ReNew Canada.
The report also highlights the company’s commitment to the community through its COVID-19 relief efforts, including a donation of more than two million pieces of personal protective equipment, and more than $1 million through the Be a Light campaign, which assisted food banks, community organizations, frontline workers, and Long-Term Care and low-income residents, while promoting public health awareness efforts.
The company’s 2019 Annual Report, Powering the Future, was honoured with a Silver Stevie® Award from the 17th annual International Business Awards® in the Best Annual Report category. The report was also recognized by the American Inhouse Design Awards.
