Work continues on the restoration of the Front Range Light at the mouth of the Saugeen River at Lake Huron.
New Lexan windows have been installed on the upper deck of the building replacing the old Plexiglas windows that were so clouded nothing could be seen through them.
New thicker cedar shingles have also been purchased and volunteers from the Marine Heritage Society and the Propeller Club have been busy applying stain to them. They are now ready to be installed in the coming weeks. Over the winter, volunteers will build a new door and window for the lower level and they will be installed in the spring.

Fundraising continues with more than $60,000 having been raised. “We have had many generous donations from individuals, businesses and organizations. The Rotary Club of Southampton, the Southampton Yacht Club, the Walker House Restaurant, Seaman and Sons Builders and Domino’s Pizza are just a few of the many contributors. We thank them all for their support and contributions as well as the Town of Saugeen Shores. We look forward to seeing all three of our Range Lights in pristine condition again,” says Marine Heritage Society Chair, Eric Tolton.
