Saugeen Shores 46th Annual Terry Fox Run about to begin

“I want to set an example that will never be forgotten.” — Terry Fox

The 46th Annual Terry Fox Run is about to begin and residents of Saugeen Shores are getting ready to lace up their shoes and come together to raise money for cancer research.

Whether you walk, run, ride a bike, rollerblade or push a scooter — everyone is welcome!

Event Details

Location: Lions’ Pavilion, Northshore Park, Port Elgin
12:30–1:00 p.m. — Registration and check-in
1:00 p.m. — Opening ceremonies and start of the run

Choose your distance — 2K, 5K or 10K.

This year, longtime Terry Fox Run supporter and cancer survivor Ken Cormack, our 2026 Terry’s Team Member, will share the story of Terry Fox — a story that must continue to be told so that Terry’s courage, determination and legacy are never forgotten.

Our guest speaker will be Dr. Dave Glass, physician, husband and cancer caregiver, and supporter. Dave will share a special message of hope.

Following the opening ceremonies, participants will head out along McVicar Street toward the lake, where Dave will be piping participants on their way. The course then travels north toward Southampton along the paved shore trail. Marshals will be positioned along the route.

And don’t rush home when you finish! Fitness Corner South is once again providing post-event snacks, so plan to stay awhile, mingle and reconnect with friends and neighbours.

Bring Your Camera!  Once again, participants will have the opportunity to have their photo taken beside the life-sized Terry Fox poster.

There will also be a KID ZONE, featuring colouring sheets and water-based tattoos.

Terry Fox Merchandise:  Adult Terry Fox T-shirts will be available at the run for $30 (cash only). Vintage shirts will be available for $10.

Youth T-shirts and additional Terry Fox merchandise are available online at shop.terryfox.org.

A Community That Shows Up

Last year, the community of Saugeen Shores, together with our schools, once again raised over $40,000 and hundreds of residents pitched in by volunteering, pledging or participating in the Terry Fox Run.

This year, we hope to see even more of our community come out.

If you are a cancer survivor, please join us. We want to celebrate you! Wear your RED SHIRT and help us show that Terry Fox’s legacy is about much more than a run.

Everyone Is Welcome – All ages. All abilities. Walk, run, roll or ride.

Come be part of the Terry Fox legacy and help raise money for cancer research.
