Saugeen Shores Girls Sting wins Provincial Championship

Congratulations go out to the Saugeen Shores Sting U14 Girls Fastball team for winning the Provincial Championships.  The Provincial Women’s Softball Association, PWSA, Tier II C tournament was held in Cambridge on August 9th -11th.

The team finished first in pool play with two wins and one loss. In pool play, the Sting beat Clarington and Brampton but lost to Guelph. In the first round of playoffs, they beat Mississauga and then beat Leamington to win the Gold medal.

The Most Valuable Player (MVP) award recipient was pitcher Ashlin Stewart for her outstanding pitching.

At Monday night’s Council meeting, the team was also recognized.  Each team member and coach received a certificate from Mayor Luke Charbonneau and a pin from Deputy Mayor Don Matheson.

Saugeen Shores will be running Fall tryouts for 2020 PWSA teams. All interested players should email their coaches to reserve a tryout spot:
