Saugeen Shores grant applications turned down

This week the Town of Saugeen Shores was informed it was not successful in grant applications to the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP). The Town had submitted two applications: one for the YMCA recreation facility and one for Lamont Sports Park.

According to ICIP officials, the intake for the Community, Culture and Recreation funding stream was highly competitive, with total demand reaching upwards of $10 billion against total available funding of one billion dollars.

“Saugeen Shores is a growing community and will take this outcome in stride,” said Mayor Charbonneau. “Our efforts towards making the YMCA and Lamont Sports Park a reality will continue as we explore other financial tools to support these projects.”

The Town has been building its Legacy Fund since 2018 to expand the community’s financial capacity in responsibly self-funding projects such as these.
