Southampton Art School celebrating ‘In Full Colour’ by local Senior Art Students

Everyone is invited to celebrate the opening of the Southampton Art School for the ‘In Full Colour’ exhibit on Saturday, April 16th from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m..

The show will feature original artwork made by the senior art students at Saugeen District Senior School (SDSS). Each painting features the Southampton Art School in some way, is done in watercolour and is accompanied with an artist statement. The artists will also be on-hand to talk about their art and to answer any questions.

This project started in 1997. Originally, we asked for submissions from local artists and, then in 2010, the Art School partnered with the local high school and has been receiving submissions every year since. Be sure to come and vote for your favourite painting. The artist who is selected as the People’s Choice will have their artwork featured in all promotions relating to the Art School next year. They will also win a $100 gift certificate to DeSerres Art Supplies sponsored by the Shoreline Artists.

Voting will also take place in-person at the Gallery and online through the link Hills Insurance has sponsored the Exhibit.

The Art School will be choosing three other entries, along with the People’s Choice winner, to create a set of four gift cards. Each student that is chosen will receive a set of the cards. The remaining sets will be sold to raise funds for art kits for youth in our community.

The exhibit runs April 12-24.
