Friday, June 28th, kicked off what was a big celebration at Southampton Foodland following a major in-store renovation that began in February.
The official store re-opening took place at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 27th, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony by store owner Martino Catalano and his wife Stacey and staff.
“This is more than a grocery store,” said Mayor Charbonneau. “It is not only an investment in business but is also a hub for the community.”
The result is a re-vamp of the entire store with a new expanded ‘deli’ and re-configuration of the entire store. The new renovation with ‘chegall’ design is only the second in Canada.

The opening is also the kick-off to the long weekend (July 1st) with the ‘Local Producers’ day beginning Friday, June 28th.
“We are very proud that we support local producers,” says Catalano. “As I have said in the past, people want to know where their food is coming from, now more than ever.”
Throughout the weekend, customers will have the opportunity to meet local producers and sample their wares, which are carried throughout the store.
