‘Spark Joy’ succeeds beyond expections

The ‘Spark Joy’ event is sure to live up to its name for the Women’s Centre Grey Bruce in Owen Sound.

Alexanne Pizycki, Christy Kelly and Margaux Bucher co-organized and chaired the event in order to help women using the Centre to have the appropriate clothing when it comes time to go to a ‘job’ interview.

The event was held at the Elk & Finch Bistro in Southampton on April 25th, where owner Bill Hodgkins donated not only the upstairs space needed to collect the clothing but also provided complementary canapes and appetizers.

Co-chair, Christy Kelly said the response by the women of Saugeen Shores was overwhelming.  “At the end, there were 22 full bins of interview-quality clothing collected for the Women’s Centre and another approximate 19 bins collected for the Saugeen and Nawash First Nations’ Women’s Centres.

Saugeen Shores Mayor, Luke Charbonneau also attended the event along with the Women’s Centre Executive Director, Heather Fowler.
