When it comes to trees, Tracy and Gerry Lambert of Trees for Saugeen are passionate. This year, 2025, marks the 15th year for their organizing the annual Saugeen Shores Spring Tree Sale, working with the Town.
The subsidized program is hosted by Trees for Saugeen with funding from the Town of Saugeen Shores, Bruce Power and Everest Nurseries, with tree orders being pre-sold.

“Once again this year, the response has been phenomenal with more than 470 trees pre-sold,” said Tracy Lambert of Trees for Saugeen. “The high school (SDSS) football team got involved and planted some 45 trees for residents who are unable to plant and the Fire Department delivered some 100. In addition, 63 trees will be going into town parks and 15 along the Rail Trail.”
Mature trees were limited to five per property/household and residents began arriving at the Town Works Yard on Peel Street for pick-up early on Saturday morning, May 3rd.
Lambert said there was a wide variety of trees that included different Maples, Tulip Trees, Dogwood and Apple trees in addition to bushes. “Kincardine also took 170 tall mature trees subsidized by Bruce Power.”
“It’s a real community effort,” said Gerry Lambert. “For instance, the high school (SDSS) football team in five groups of five, planted more than 45 trees. Jack Van Geel, now in university, did planting in high school and returned from university to take part again this year. It also gives the students a chance to accumulate their community service hours.”

Each year, the trees at subsidized pricing are available only to Saugeen Shores residents, are limited to five per household and are not available to commercial enterprises such as landscaping companies. “We really have to thank Everest tree nursery,” said Tracy Lambert. “They have been amazing with their costs and so appreciate it.”
