Support for local business available in Saugeen Shores

With the provincial government’s move to Stage 3 in its reopening strategy this week, collaboration within the community of Saugeen Shores is creating opportunities to support the local economy.

“Town Council and staff are working with local partners to deliver timely, effective initiatives to support our community’s businesses during the pandemic,” said Mayor Luke Charbonneau. “The Mayor’s Task Force on Economic Recovery continues to meet regularly, providing valuable insight on Saugeen Shores’ economy and how the municipality can support local businesses.”

Signage for businesses

One of those collaborations, between the Town of Saugeen Shores, the Port Elgin BIA and the Southampton BIA, provides downtown businesses with physical distancing floor decals, open signs and new practices posters to help ensure safe practices when delivering business services.

Through this partnership, downtown businesses are able to obtain these materials free of charge by contacting their local BIA Board of Management.

Interactive posters

As the world shifts more and more towards online business and service delivery, KP9 Interactive has partnered with the Town of Saugeen Shores to deliver interactive posters for local businesses.

With 15 businesses signed on to date, the Town’s economic development staff look forward to seeing these innovative posters around the community of Saugeen Shores. If businesses would like to see a demo or sign up, they can visit the “Local resources” section of the SaugeenShores.ca/BusinessSupport webpage.

Personal protective equipment (PPE)

For businesses looking to purchase personal protective equipment, Bruce Power has recently announced the new ‘Strength in Numbers’ portal. This collaboration between Bruce Power and their Ontario-based suppliers will allow requestors to purchase PPE directly from Bruce Power supply partners.

To pre-order PPE, businesses can visit BrucePower.com/Strength-in-Numbers by July 17, and watch for the announcement of the official opening of the Strength in Numbers purchasing portal the week of July 27.
