On Tuesday, August 28th at 7:00 p.m., composer and concert pianist Simone Rien will perform classical pieces along with her own compositions at a ‘Reconciliation Concert’.
Rien has just arrived back from Master classes and performances throughout Italy and France and will be performing at Southampton United Church in a special ‘Reconciliation‘ concert where she will also speak about the role that artists and students play in reconciliation.
In 2017, Rien received commissions from the Charlotte New Music Festival (US*A), HighScore Music Festival (Italy), L’Agrion de L’oise (France) and completed the composition program at EAMA Nadia Boulanger Institute in Paris with Honours.
She has won numerous prizes at the Kiwanis Music Festivals as a younger pianist and most recently made her orchestral debut in 2016 performing as soloist with the Coquitlam Youth Orchestra after winning first prize at the Yarilo Piano Competition the same year. This summer, Simone made her Italian performance debut as a soloist with the Virtuosi Brunensis Orchestra under the baton of Gaddiel Dombrowner
Everyone is invited to welcome Simone Rien to Southampton and to bring a favourite DESSERT for the pot-luck following the concerts.
Admission is free-will donation and an RSVP to Laura Robinson at laura.robinson@sympatico.ca would be most appreciated.
