There’s a saying in the theatre that “… the show must go on” however, when you have a two-person play and one person becomes ill and there’s no understudy, what do you do?
Thursday, July 7th, was to be the gala opening night of the Bruce County Playhouse production of ‘Murder for Two’. Reviewed as a ‘killer musical comedy’, the play is held together by two actors who play all the roles, sing, dance and play piano.
Unfortunately, actor Iain Stewart, became very ill the night before and it continued throughout the next day … opening night day and he was simply unable to go on.
“We notified everyone we could,” said Director/Producer Natalie Robitaille, “that the gala opening was not taking place. It was just one of those things and, in live theatre, you just have to learn to roll with whatever happens. The run however is continuing with Iain up to his usual energetic and entertaining self.”
