Saugeen Shores is fortunate to having its own Leaf and Yard Waste site that creates compost.
The site is conveniently located beside the Town’s landfill in Southampton at 162 Concession 14 and is open 24/7.
Acceptable items that easily compost are leaves, grass clippings and non-invasive plant materials. Unacceptable however, are Brush, food waste, garbage (ex. plastic plant containers).
Unfortunately, not everyone gets the message as seen by a recent unloading of what appears to be cedar rail fencing.
Wood, brush, clean wood and stumps are to go to the landfill for a tipping fee.
