On Saturday, February 22nd, United Way Bruce Grey, with the support of local clubs and organizations, hosted four “Coldest Night of the Year” walks across the region. The events took place in Saugeen Shores, Kincardine, Grey Highlands, and Meaford, and were met with resounding success. These walks sparked crucial conversations and rallied community support to help people experiencing poverty challenges, hunger, or homelessness.
Across four United Way locations, the combined efforts of 513 walkers and volunteers have raised an impressive $120,326, so far. Community members are encouraged to continue fundraising until March 31st to further boost supporting this initiative. Meaford and Grey Highlands are nearing their fundraising targets. We also extend our gratitude to each municipality for ensuring safe sidewalks after the heavy snowfall during this important event.
“Seeing the passion and generosity of our communities come together on such a chilly night was truly inspiring. This weather was the coldest we’ve had since running these events and every step taken by our walkers and every dollar raised warms the hearts of our most vulnerable. We are incredibly grateful for the support of our sponsors, community members, and donors,” said Kristy Andre, UWBG Fundraising Champion.
