UPDATE: Duffy’s Fish & Chips vandalized

Further to the incident that occurred at Duffy’s Fish & Chips in Southampton on July 20th, a police report has been issued stating that Saugeen Shores Police we’re dispatched to the restaurant for a report of an unwanted person.
Dispatchers advised they could hear glass breaking while taking the call. Police arrived on scene and the suspect fled on foot. Officers pursued the suspect through backyards and over fences. Police attempted to place the suspect under arrest to which he resisted. A conductive energy weapon (taser) was used and the arrest was completed without further issue.
The suspect was taken to the Southampton Hospital for treatment to his arms and hands, which were a result of him breaking several windows at the local establishment.
As a result of this incident a 28-year-old of Southampton has been charged with:
  • Mischief x2
  • Causing a Disturbance
  • Trespass by Night
  • Assault with intent to Resist Arrest.
He has since been released from custody with a future court date.
In a previous incident, on July 11th, Police were dispatched to a report of a male punching and breaking a window of a building at the Port Elgin Main Beach.  Officers arrived on scene and located the same person who was arrested and charged with Mischief.  At that time, he was also released with a future court date.
