Saugeen Shores Men’s PROBUS club that meets on the first Tuesday of each month features a guest speaker, an expert in his or her field or speaking on topics of general interest.
August’s meeting (Aug. 6th) will feature Terry Fitzgerald speaking about electric vehicles (EVs), and PROBUS invites anyone interested in the new EVs with questions or comments to attend.
Fitzgerald has been a lifelong auto enthusiast from his early days of building and racing sports cars to his current passion for electric vehicles.
From February 2018 to September 2021, he was a contracted Product Specialist for ‘Plug’n Drive’ at the Electric Vehicle Discovery Centre (EVDC) in Toronto. ‘Plug’n Drive’ is a not-for-profit organization that is accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles for their environmental and economic benefits, and is the creator of the EVDC, the world’s first facility dedicated to public education regarding electric vehicles.
During his time at EVDC, Fitzgerald conducted hundreds of interviews and test drives with potential EV buyers, gaining invaluable insight into buyers’ needs and goals regarding EVs.
Based on all his public engagements, he has published two books, his 2020 Book “What you really need to know about Electric Vehicles “ in 2020 and “Choosing the right EV” in 2024.
With a varied background in website and document usability analysis, website design and records management specialization, Fitzgerald has now turned his focus on yet another career path, author and educator when it comes to electric vehicles (EVs).
As with most people, outside of his career passion in the automative field, his interests are wide ranging and have included coaching hockey up to the college level, personal playing of pick-up hockey, playing guitar and, in keeping with his passion – sports cars and sedan racing.
