Welcome Back (Again!) at the Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre

The Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre is preparing to welcome visitors back on March 2, 2021. As with our previous re-opening in 2020, we continue to put public safety first and have protocols in place to keep visitors and staff safe by following the Provincial framework guidelines and the advice of Grey Bruce Public Health officials.

We’ve got some great new exhibitions opening too! ‘Trailblazers’ is an exhibition created by The Canadian Centre for Gender + Sexual Diversity (CCGSD), that recognizes the lives and work of 12 remarkable individuals who have acted as a voice for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and advocated for equal rights and freedoms in Canada. We are also opening a new permanent exhibit ‘Earth’s Climate in the Balance’, did you know that the earth has experienced 4.6 billion years of climate change? This digital exhibition will answer many of your questions and more featured in the lower café.

Winter programming continues with our ‘Virtual Adventure Talks’- traveling near and far, these explorers have been on trips of a lifetime and are excited to share their journey, stories and photographs with you. For those of you who are wanting a more hands-on experience and time away from screens the “Museum in a Box” monthly subscription program offers activity kits including challenges, videos, crafts, and games and provide enough supplies for two children. Order a subscription for the whole year, 10 boxes, or pick from your favourite themes and order individually by the first of each month. Visit brucemuseum.ca to learn more about all of our programs, to purchase tickets, or order your ‘Museum in a Box’.

We launched the rebooted ‘Education Centre’ in January 2021. Educators can now take their classes on virtual field trips and find resources in one easy-to-navigate place which is available on our website at brucemuseum.ca. The ‘Education Centre’ is providing educators with easier access to information, and more digital resources for teachers teaching online and those in the classroom that would like to visit but cannot.

The Museum will be open Tuesday to Saturday from 10 AM to 12 PM and 1 PM to 5 PM closing daily from noon until 1 PM for additional sanitizing and cleaning protocols, please follow the three w’s when you visit: Wear a face mask, Wash your hands, and Watch your distance.

The Archives & Research Room will be available by appointment only Tuesday to Saturday 10 AM to 12 PM or 1:30 PM to 4 PM, reservations can be made by calling 226-909-2890 or email archives@brucecounty.on.ca.
