Lightning strikes Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority

Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority (SVCA) has announced that its Administrative Office in Formosa has been closed due to a lightning strike on Sunday, October 6th (2024).

The building was vacant at the time and everyone is safe.  In addition, there was no fire as a result of the strike however, there is sustained electrical damage currently being assessed to determine the extent of the damage and the timeline for re-opening.  Therefore, SVCA staff is working remotely to maintain continuity of services.

“Our thanks go out to the South Bruce Fire Department and Teeswater and Mildmay Stations for their fast response, professionalism and thoroughness,” said Erik Downing, General Manager/Secretary-Treasurer, SVCA.

Adjustments and Contact Information:
