Senior Men’s Baseball returns to Saugeen Shores: Lamont Sports Park – Sunday May 31, 2026

It’s been a long-time coming but Senior Men’s baseball has returned to Port Elgin (Saugeen Shores) under the Midwestern Ontario Senior Baseball League (MOSBL).

The Midwestern Ontario Senior Baseball League is a mens (19+) baseball league based in Midwestern Ontario with a history dating back to 2005, “… first as the Thames Valley Senior Baseball League. Since 2017, the league has run under the MOSBL name. Member teams include Junior (22u) and Senior aged clubs as per Baseball Ontario regulations.”

The MOSBL member teams are found in 10 different towns and seven counties throughout Mid-Western Ontario, ranging from London in the south as far east as Kitchener and now north to Port Elgin. The MOSBL and its members recently approved the application of the Port Elgin White Sox into their Senior Division for the 2026 Season. The vote was a part of the MOSBL AGM held in Mitchell.

The Application was reviewed by Senior clubs in the MOSBL at the November 30th AGM, and approved unanimously. The Port Elgin club has begun the 2026 season with its next game tomorrow Sunday, May 31st at Lamont Sports Park in Port Elgin.

Throughout decades, Port Elgin has been a major force when it comes to the baseball sports scene and, today, the tradition continues particularly when it comes to minor ball.  Now however, Saugeen Shores is again fast becoming a known hub, thanks to the completion of the Lamont Sports Park facility, for minor ball, slo-pitch and, now, senior men’s baseball.

The new Port Elgin White Sox will play teams from London, Woodstock, Lucan, Mitchell, Listowel and Kincardine.  President, Connor Yourth, says that “We have just started and the support we have had from local businesses with sponsorships as well as local photography and even live video streams has been incredible. We play 16 games and luckily, for the first year, we have 10 at the premium Lamont facility and some of the teams from the London area are travelling here for our first year for doubleheaders.”

                                  Summer Schedule

“We are looking forward to bringing baseball back to Saugeen Shores and hope the community will come out in support,” adds Yourth. “Although our opener was cancelled because of weather and was reschedule for the following morning, we still had 50 -60 fans come out.”

“Our roster includes a variety of young players and old veterans. We have so much local home grown talent, such as young pitchers like Raine Gibbons and Cam Clarmo to veterans like Chris Inkster and Brian Maas. Practically every player has played minor baseball in town for the Sting.”

Yourth goes on to explain that the name, Port Elgin White Sox, was based on the former team that played in the Grey Bruce baseball league from 1994 – 99, started by Mike Kelly and Rick Dwinell. “From the original team, Johnny Campbell is the only player still playing.  He had our first hit and scored our first run in the opener … and they say you can’t be romantic about baseball!”
