The Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula, along with the Northern Bruce Peninsula Fire & Emergency Services, is pleased to host the 30th anniversary of Bruce County Fire School. Each year firefighters from across Bruce County converge on an area municipality to train, learn, and practice new firefighting skills.
This year, on Saturday April 22nd and Sunday April 23rd, Bruce County firefighters will be in Tobermory training on numerous skill sets that are unique to Northern Bruce Peninsula and rural firefighting. Approximately 100 firefighters from across Bruce County will be descending on Tobermory for a fun-filled weekend of learning and training.
The Office of the Fire Marshal’s (OFM) mobile live fire training unit (MLFTU) will be in Tobermory for live fire training. This unique mobile training unit will help firefighters develop the skills necessary to fight fires in emergency situations in their respective municipalities.
Firefighters will also be developing skills in wilderness search and rescue, rural water supply, forest fire firefighting, and auto extrication. Instructors from across Bruce County, Grey County, OFM, Parks Canada, OPP, and MNRF (AFFES) will be imparting their knowledge on firefighters in the picturesque back drop of Northern Bruce Peninsula.
Opening ceremonies are at the Tobermory Community Centre located at 7420 Hwy 6, in Tobermory on April 22nd at 07:30AM.
