Ever felt the urge to take to the stage or, perhaps, make a comeback?
The Bruce County Play House is gearing up for a very active live theatre summer and is now holding auditions for its upcoming productions.
They are auditioning for the following roles:
Karaoke Dreamer by Robert More:
Alison: (able to play 20s) Girl next door. A walking encyclopedia of music and song and an excellent singer. Samples of songs sung in the show are “On My Own” from Les Mis, “What’s Love Got To Do With It?” by Tina Turner, and “I Will Survive” by Gloria Gaynor.
Sheila: (able to play 20s) Tough but on the vulnerable side, has had to work hard for everything in life so far and singing is the only thing that helps her get through it all. Samples of songs sung in the show are “At Last” by Etta James, “Hit Me With Your Best Shot” by Pat Benetar, and “Maybe This Time” from Cabaret.
Justin (able to play 20s) From Saskatchewan and a country boy through and through. Good looking and kinda full of himself but in a loveable way. Sample songs sung in the show: “Great Balls of Fire” by Jerry Lee Lewis, “Standing Outside the Fire” by Garth Brooks, and “Anthem” from Chess.
Tommy Dash: (able to play 25-35) MC of the show, charming and fast on his feet, Tommy is a fantastic host that is able to handle anything that can arise on a live show. Tommy joins the group numbers such as: “Rock Around the Clock” by Bill Haley and His Comets, “A Hard Day’s Night” by the Beatles, and “500 Miles” by The Proclaimers.
**We are also seeking great local karaoke singers, each to be highlighted at a performance, to sing one song of their choice. (The song must be approved by the Director of the Show.)**
The Kitchen Witches by Caroline Smith:
Dolly Biddle: (able to play 50s) an energetic and fun loving local cable-access cooking show host. She loves life and she loves snacks, even though they might not be the best for her health. She loves giving out recipes for borscht and cabbage rolls, and hates rival cooking show host Isobel Lomax with a passion.
All additional information and audition requirements are on the poster. Not much time as local auditions are Monday, April 15.
