Bruce Power and Tetra Tech Canada reach new agreement for engineering service

Bruce Power and Tetra Tech Canada have reached a new six-yearagreement that secures a key role for the engineering company in the delivery of outages and online work as well as supporting Bruce Power’s Life Extension Program which is Canada’s largest infrastructure project.

“We’re pleased that Tetra Tech is partnering with us to advance and deliver these crucial programs including our Life Extension Program. We rely on our partners and their ability to continue innovating and advancing our technologies,” said Mike Rencheck, Bruce Power’s President and CEO. “Our life extension program which began in 2016 and remains on budget and schedule is creating and sustaining 22,000 highly-skilled jobs across Ontario, including Bruce, Grey and Huron counties, while delivering 30 per cent of Ontario’s electricity at 30 per cent less than the average cost to generate residential power.”

Tetra Tech Canada Inc. has been an engineering services provider at Bruce Power since 2017 and will be responsible for the majority of engineering services for Rotating Equipment, Electrical Equipment, Mechanical Equipment, and Emergent Work programs.

“We are extremely privileged to participate in Bruce Power’s Major Component Replacement and Asset Management programs in their continuous commitment to provide safe, clean, reliable electricity to the Province of Ontario at affordable prices.” said Pat Marchione, President of Tetra Tech Canada’s power division. “As such, we have committed to supporting the local community through expanding Tetra Tech’s local work force in our Kincardine facility, and investing in innovative methods to support Bruce Power’s long-term business objectives.”

Tetra Tech Canada is expanding its presence in the Tri-county area through localization of staff and services in its office located at 233 Broadway Street in Kincardine. Tetra Tech Canada is actively exploring a second location in efforts to maintain level expansion and execute work locally.

“The economic development opportunities that are created in Ontario by extending the life of Bruce Power through 2064 are significant,” Rencheck said. “Every day we get closer to the start of the Unit 6 Major Component Replacement, and it is important to celebrate with our supplier partners as we work together to build a carbon-free, low-cost energy future through nuclear power. I congratulate Tetra Tech on their new location and wish them continued success as they help us power Ontario.”
