Bruce Telecom is planning an expansion.
Everything from video meetings to streaming your favourite entertainment will be faster and easier in Durham Ontario once Bruce Telecom is starting its next significant fibre optic installation across the community.
“We’re delighted to be expanding our fibre optic service into neighbouring communities, creating more opportunities for residents to access faster and more reliable Internet. We look forward to connecting with the community soon,” said Ray Lahoud, President and Chief Executive Office, Bruce Telecom.
Fibre to the Home is considered the most advanced technology to provide the best internet connection throughout your home, all through a single strand of glass at the speed of light. Unlike traditional copper or coaxial cables, fibre cables use light instead of electricity to transmit data, making them faster, stronger, and more reliable.
With a fibre connection, data literally moves at the speed of light. Fibre is also less impacted by environmental issues, such as water or extreme temperatures, making it more durable to withstand Canadian winters and summers, along with environmental factors that would otherwise cause deterioration over time.
Construction will begin this month with the installation of trenches and conduit to bring fibre to business and homes. Residents may notice vehicles of the contractor, Extreme Drilling, in the community as this work commences, as well as “EH!tel” which is a sister telecommunications company to Bruce Telecom.
“As part of this process, Bruce Telecom will be mailing residents to request permission to access their property to prepare the site for potential future fibre service. By agreeing, residents will be able to quickly be connected once our fibre build is completed in the Fall 2024,” said Ray, Bruce Telecom President & CEO.
He added, “Bruce Telecom is one of the region’s longest running and most trusted telecommunications partners, and we look forward to helping residents and businesses see why moving to us would be a good decision. When we’re at that point, we will have some exciting promotions in place to give even more incentive to switch to Bruce Telecom and learn why our customers give us such a high approval rating in customer satisfaction surveys.”
Bruce Telecom will continue to communicate with the community as this work unfolds. If residents have questions, contact Bruce Telecom at 519-368-2000.
