Saugeen Central School in Port Elgin is holding its final senior band music night as the school transitions to a primary and middle school next year.
The Wildcat Tribute Concert will be held on Thursday June 13, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. in the gymnasium and will recognize the music program from 1974 to the present.
The achievement list over the decades is very impressive and is indicative of the quality of instruction and the dedication and commitment of students to music.
- 7x Provincial Champions
- 3x Provincial Runners Up
- 2x National Champions
- 5x National Silver Medalists
Numerous records include:
- Highest Gold ever awarded to an elementary school in Bluewater at Nationals (B200 Category);
- 1st Jazz Ensemble at the elementary level from Bluewater to compete at Nationals;
- 1st Elementary school in Bluewater to send multiple bands to Nationals in the same year.
“We are calling out to all Saugeen Central Alumni to come and join us for the evening of the program moves to Saugeen District Senior School,” says Musice Director Matthew Patterson.
