Chantry Island Cham-bettes host the annual Octogenarian luncheon

It was a full house as those over eighty were once again honoured by the Chantry Island Cham-bettes when the group hosted the annual ‘Octogenarian Lunch’.

Each year the Cham-bettes prepare and serve lunch at the Chantry Centre 55+ to residents who are 80 or more.

Mayor Lukce Charbonneau stopped to chat

Among the guests was Mayor Luke Charbonneau who attends the event every year.

While many who attend the luncheon are in their eighties and nineties, Inger Gottscheu, turned 100 on January 1st. The centenarian said that she still lives alone, does all her own cooking and laundry and laughlngly remarked that.  “With six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, Christmas is an expensive time of year.”
