“This is the first donation of $1,000 to the Club by the Cham-bettes,” said Martha Bennett. “We know that lifesaving equipment can be very expensive and, thanks to Cham-bette Darlene Kane who brought the need to our attention, we knew that we wanted to help this organization that focuses on youth.”

The Chantry Island Cham-bettes is a group of local women who have been FUNdraising for more than 60 years.  Funds raised by the group (through garage sales, plant sales, Stuff the Scarecrow Fall event and its well known major fundraiser, the annual Christmas Home Tour which is now heading into its 15 year), go back into the community.  Throughout the years, the list of recipients for funds is long, including Women’s Houses in the area, the local Hospital Foundation, Food Banks, Hospice and more.

Saugeen Shores Lifesaving Club also has a long history with members of all ages who have competed provincially, nationally and internationally, including in the U.K. and Italy.

“We really appreciate this donation from the Cham-bettes,” said Head Coach, Michael Hundt. “It’s a very generous surprise and will definitely help us out with our equipment needs.”
