The 25th Anniversary ‘Parade of Champions’ to be held on Sunday, August 11th at 1:00 p.m. in Port Elgin, was envisioned as a first for the community, with the potential to add this to Saugeen Shores’ list of activities and as a quinquennial event.
It’s an opportunity to celebrate, pay respectful homage to and acknowledge those individuals, teams, groups and others who have helped the community grow while ensuring safety, health and welfare.
Parade organizer, Neil Menage, says, “We celebrate both the children and adults who have risen to championship levels locally, provincially, nationally and beyond. First responders are champions of our health and safety. Service clubs volunteer and work tirelessly to improve our way of life and to help those less fortunate.”
Menage adds, “Finally, and to great fanfare, let’s thank our agricultural and farm community who not only help us to live healthily, but include the world in their efforts. They have honoured us and, we them, as they pull our floats (trailers) in the parade.
