Concert Band pays it forward to young musicians

G. C. Huston Public School’s music teacher, Kim Lake, was delighted to receive a recent donation from the Southampton Concert Band.

(L-R) Dave Armchuk, Olivia Laman, Rosalie Catalan, John Wills, teacher Kim Lake, Asher Wrightson, Serenity Saunders and Ridley Gilmore

John Wills, Concert Band music director, presented $500 for the school’s music program.  “The Concert Band is privileged to be able to use the school facility in Southampton as a practice venue.  Therefore, we wanted to help out the up-and-coming young musicians in the program as there is always a need when it comes to instruments, etc.”

Lake said that the donation is much appreciated.  “We need new drum sticks, a new flute and other things, so the money is certainly welcomed.”
