The countdown is on for the annual Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation fundraiser – RADIOTHON set for next Thursday, December 14th.
This year’s fundraiser, in support of much-needed hospital equipment, is for new cardiac monitors for the inpatient unit and the renovations and expansion of the nurses’ station to keep up with their ever-increasing demand.
As most people know by now, the government does not provide ANY funding for hospital equipment.
The existing nursing station is so out-of-date and small that only two staff members can work in it at the same time which results in nurses and doctors often having to sit in hallways to complete their work.
When it comes to the cardiac monitors, local resident Gary Brown (Mr. Cruiser) understands their importance after experiencing a cardiac arrest (heart attack).
