Fun-filled family weekend begins – PUMPKINFEST

The 39th annual fun-filled family weekend has begun – the award-winning Pumpkinfest in Port Elgin (Saugeen Shores).

Friday night was the beginning with special ride prices for local residents at the Midway, and as seen by the long line-ups, it was a popular night event.

Then, for the adults in the crowd it was time to ‘Party in the Patch’ with a rockin’ night of music by The Road Hammers with The Scott Howarth Band & Hailey McNeil.

Friday night though is only the beginning as the weekend continues.

On Saturday throughout the day, is the weigh-off in search of the championship giant pumpkin, gourds and vegetables in the Missionary Church building (formerly known as the ‘old Port Elgin arena’) on Green Street.

While all that is happening, downtown along Goderich Street is one of the biggest car shows – the OLG Cinderella Car Show, with hundreds of classic vehicles lining the streets from 10am to 4pm both Saturday & Sunday.

Then, for those who like the tastes of a wide variety of food, Pumpkinfest is the place to be.  From Korean to Poutine, corn dogs to popcorn, there is something for everyone.  Also, for those who prefer basic homecooked BBQ, there are the service clubs, such as Rotary Club of Saugeen Shores and the District Lions Club, who serve up delicious mouthwatering burgers.

Just when you thought the day was over, it’s time for another big event at ‘Party in the Patch’ – the 54.40 concert with musical guests ‘Softcult’.

The fun only continues on Sunday.
