It was perfect weather as almost 100 golfers (the limit allowed for outdoor events during Covid-19) tee-d off at Southampton Golf and Country Club (formerly Chippewa Golf) for the Hope for Cancer golf fundraiser on Saturday, August 15th.

The fundraiser, primarily organized by Stephanie McArthur, featured golf, dinner and of course the ever-popular putting green contests.

New Club Manager this year, Bill Stewart, laid out the rules of the day and also reminded everyone of the masking restrictions due to COVID-19.
Stewart said that he hoped the tournament would raise almost $20,000 – although at time of publishing, a total has not yet been determined.
When it comes to FUNdraising, the Chantry Island Cham-bettes can always be counted on and, as usual, they were also out in full force. Over the past four years of ‘ladies Hope nights’ at the golf course, the group has raised some $12,000 for breast cancer research.
