The 5th annual Hope for Cancer golf tournament held on August 18th at Southampton Golf and Country Club was the most successful yet.
Despite Covid, the tournament persevered and, for each of the past two years, it raised approximately $14,000. This year however, the annual sold-out FUNdraising event almost doubled the amount, raising an incredible $26,000.
Allison Taylor-Misener of the Cancer Society accepted the funds on Monday, October 2nd. “It’s absolutely amazing. This event grows every year and, next year, I hope to be able to attend.

Organizer, Stephanie McArthur said, “Despite the Fall day with blustery winds, this year’s tournament was a really fun time for everybody and everyone got into the spirit of wanting to help because all the funds raised stay local.”

Although there was no actual winner of the hole-in-one, Heather Joynt still came out the winner. At the end of the day, each golfer paid to enter the hole-in-one draw and Joynt’s name was pulled from the ‘hat’.
The organizing committee is already looking forward to next year’s event. “Stay tuned for the date,” said McArthur.
