Hope for Hospice 2.0 the ungala-gala

Huron Shores Hospice is bringing back Hope for Hospice 2.0, the ungala-gala as this year’s Fall premier fundraising event. The event will be held on Thursday, September 16. Due to the uncertainty around planning an in-person event, the fundraising committee made the decision to return to a virtual event for 2021. Last year’s Hope for Hospice event was well received by the over 290 participants and was extremely successful with over $147,000 raised for our community hospice.

“We are very excited to offer our new and improved Hope for Hospice 2.0 event for this year,” said Cheryl Cottrill, Co-Chair of Huron Shores Hospice. “It was disappointing to cancel our Handbags for Hospice event for the second year, as we know how much our community loves this event and looks forward to getting dressed up and participating in this fun evening. However, last year’s feedback was so positive that we knew our community would support another virtual event this year and then be ready to gather in person for 2022 at the Handbags event. The virtual event will be live-streamed directly into ticket holders’ homes, allowing for whatever COVID protocols may be in place at the time.

Changes this year will include the re-introduction of Layne the Auctionista to perform the Live Auction at the event. We are excited to welcome Layne back this year to put the fun in fundraising! Charcuterie boards will also be offered, at an additional price and an after-party, via Zoom, has been added to the program.

Hope for Hospice, the ungala gala will highlight the best of our local community. The gala will include access to a charcuterie board from local restaurants, paired with a bottle of wine (not included in ticket price), local entertainment, silent and live auctions – supporting our local small businesses and Layne the Auctionista. The pre-show (included in the ticket price) will include features to get you ready for the big night. The pre-show will begin at 6:00 p.m., with a 6:30 start to the main event. After the approximately 1-hour main show, Huron Shores Hospice will host an after-party, via Zoom, for those who want to hang out and visit with other participants.

Tickets are $50 for the main event. A full tax receipt is provided for your ticket price, making your ticket a tax deductible donation, with the added benefit of exclusive access to the virtual event!

Unlike our handbags event, we never have to worry about ticket sales exceeding our room capacity and the entire community can join in on the same fun you’ve come to expect at Handbags for Hospice. All proceeds from the ticket sales will go directly to supporting the care and support we provide to our residents and their families while in care. Only those who have purchased a ticket or provided a sponsorship will be able to “attend” this extraordinary evening.

All silent and live auction items will be purchased locally from our small businesses so we can support them through these difficult times. These items will be purchased with the help of our generous corporate sponsors, and contribute not only to the hospice, but also to our small businesses who are a vital part of our community. A number of handbags will also be featured in the on-line auctions for those craving their new 2021 handbag.

Stay tuned for more information announcing the date tickets will be available, pre-show details, local talent who will be featured during the event, silent and live auction items and the announcement of the dates the silent auction will go live.
