Local high school Art Students submit works for annual Arts Centre Cover Contest

Each year, Southampton Arts engages with local Saugeen District Senior School (SDSS) art teacher Adrian Kahgee to nurture and encourage young artists.

Given the topic of the Art School, “SDSS – Art School Cover Contest”, each work is highly individual proving that art is very subjective.  The main criteria is that each student has to create a watercolour art work that focuses on the heritage School building itself and also explain in a statement why or how the work was created.

This year, 17 pieces of artwork were submitted from students depicting inspirations from the Art School heritage building.

Through public voting to determine a winner, Tania Bautista has been announced as this year’s winner.

‘Meet the Artists’ reception is being held at the Southampton Gallery on Saturday, March 9th from 12:00p.m. (Noon) to 2:00 p.m. with light refreshments served.

Everyone is welcome to attend the exhibition that has been sponsored by PUREWEALTH Financial Group, and to have the opportunity to meet the young artists.
